BookClub.LIVE

BookClub.LIVE is the Also Festival's event that celebrates the incredible, positive social role the Book Club plays in people's lives and in 2019 will be held on the evening of Thursday 4th July at Park Farm, Compton Verney, CV35 9HJ.

Yes, from 5pm the gates to 50 acres of landscaped lakeside parkland will be thrown wide open for you and your gang to make us the location for your summer book group and create a memorable experience - one of books and nature together.

For 2019 we are welcoming writer and broadcaster Natalie Haynes to the stage. Natalie will be talking about her novel A Thousand Ships (published at the beginning of May), she is the author of the novels Amber Fury and The Children of Jocasta and the acclaimed The Ancient Guide to Modern Life. She has also written and presented four series of the BBC Radio 4 Show Natalie Haynes Stands Up for the Classics and was awarded the 2015 Classical Prize - we'll let her tell you how she took on Boris Johnson and won.

If you haven't had the pleasure of hearing Natalie speak before, her ten years spent as a stand up comedian mean she's an extraordinarily entertaining performer. We've worked with her for several years so couldn't be happier to have her for this year's BookClub.LIVE.

BookClub.LIVE will be held in our beautiful canvas marquee with a bar with wines and beers, bar snacks and, tasty wines and non alcoholic drinks.

FAQs

  • Is there car parking?

Car parking is available on site and we will send you a detailed map with directions ahead of the event.

  • Is there disabled access?

BookClub.LIVE is in 50 acres of an entirely wild site so walking on rough grass in unavoidable and our venue is a (short) five minute walk from the carpark. However once you've reached the venue there is little walking needed - although please watch out for uneven grass under foot. If you need further information do contact us and we will do our best to accommodate: info@also-festival.com.

  • Are there toilets?

Don't worry - we have a number of high quality toilets for the event.

  • Is food and drink available?

We will send out details of available food and snacks nearer to the event. There will also be a fully stocked bar with wine, craft beer and cocktails and coffee and cake, and plenty of chairs and tables to sit down. We are unable to allow any food or drink to be brought on to the site.

  • Can I volunteer for BookClub.LIVE?

We are a tiny team and run this entirely free event ourselves with extremely limited resources. If you'd like to volunteer as a steward or to help run this event please do let us know by email - we'd be extremely grateful!
